Here are my first efforts at writing haiku as well as other "small stones," short polished pieces of writing. I am a single vegan lesbian living with 6 pets on Vashon Island. I spend my days primarily quilting "portable hug" quilts which I donate to folks who could use a portable hug for a variety of reasons. I also tutor/mentor middle school and high school students in a variety of subjects. I am interested in yoga, daoism, and haiku.
This is a really good one, too! I like the imagery of the abandoned snakeskin. Sounds like your remodel has had you sorting though some old "stuff." Remodels will do that. Even our much smaller projects necessitated clearing out a couple of closets and some dresser drawers. Very few old photos were involved, but a lot of old belongings, much of which just feels like flotsam and jetsam. My version of this haiku would go something like this...
Past treasures Some still bring joy while others clutter Time for a yard sale.
I like yours also and yes, this remodel or should I say rebuilding of my home is working nicely with the rebuilding or discovering of the real me. The two go hand in glove.
